It All Begins - Chad's Hope Is Formed
A young boy burdened with a debilitating, potentially fatal illness
learns of his chance of having a better future, to do the things
his father dreamed of him doing. Researchers discover a procedure
that shows promise, and soon the procedure will begin clinical
studies on human patients. However, there is a financial cost
associated with this treatment, and it's a load one family can
not bare alone. Realizing there's a financial and emotional burden
to all afflicted families seeking the experimental treatment,
family and friends of Chad band together in an effort to raise
funds, and more importantly awareness about Late Infantile Batten
Disease. The journey began here, and soon people became aware
of Chad, his story, and the need to find a cure for Batten.

and of Late Infantile Batten Disease. The songs performed are songs

BOOKS
FOR A CURE
Shown here are the
wonderful students of Joseph Teres School who raised just over
$500.00 for the Chad's Hope Fund. The proceeds were raised through
a book fair fundraiser that was initiated by Jesse, the son of
one of our committee members, and his teacher Mrs. Alexander.
The students brought in books for their homes and sold them to
help raise funds and create awareness about Batten Disease. The
students have further challenged all schools to help in the fundraising
funds for the cure.
Our thanks to the
children, Mrs. Alexander, Principal Laurie Sodomlak and Vice Principal
Theresa Hunt for giving so much of themselves. Great Job!!!

APRIL 2004

April was a busy time
for the Chad's Hope Committee, there were a lot of events planned, funds
were being raised, and the awareness campaign was well underway. Chad's
work was done, and tragically, he was taken from us on Easter Sunday.
Despite our sorrow, we continue, because Chad would of wanted it that
way.
CANS
FOR A CURE
Seen here are Bonnie, Shannon and the kids from Dakota Collegiate.
Bonnie, Shannon and the kids collected 240 pounds (that's right
240 pounds!!!!) of empty pop and beer cans for recycling. They
raised $125.00 for the Chad's Hope Fund.
This was not the last of Bonnie's good deeds, Bonnie becomes
one of Chad's Angels, continuing to collect the used cans from
her restaurant, raising awareness about the disease, and raising
funds every way she can think of. She sets the template for unconditional
love. God Bless You Bonnie!

Books For Two Cures
John Pritchard School - 1490 Henderson Highway
The founder of this school, John Pritchard himself would of been
proud knowing that children attending his school almost 200 years
later took the times out of their busy schedules to do unto others
- having a book fair and raising funds for not only The Chad's Hope
Fund, but also Canadian Diabetes Association. Way to go kids!

Tis the good reader that makes the good book; a good
head cannot read amiss: in every book he finds passages
which seem confidences or asides hidden from all else
and unmistakably meant for his ear.
