Starting the New Year off Right: It's a new year, and what better way to start off the year by making our first real financial contribution the Nathan's Battle Foundation, the cornerstone foundation that helps foster awareness about Late Infantile Batten's Disease and helps raise and distribute funds for ongoing research. The committee presented a cheque to Phil Milto, President of Nathan's Battle in the amount of $20,000 USD. It is hoped that we will be able to raise and distribute more funds in the future to other honorable organizations that also foster awareness, provide support, and sponsor research initiatives in Batten's Disease. We should be proud of this accomplishment, and proud of making Chad's hope become a reality. The countless hours of hard work and dedication paid off.

- HAPPY NEW YEAR -
This year was filled with tribulations for the Chad's Hope Committee. Poor attendance for some events, and the death of our precious Chad. Although we did not achieve the financial target we set out to raise, we should still all be proud that we raised $40,000 this year for the fund. We further created an incredible amount of awareness about this disease and the hope for a better life through our events, posters, and through the media such as the A Channel. Through our continued efforts in the new year, Chad's dream will one day become a reality, and children and their families will not longer have to suffer as hope will now be there.

The event was sponsored by the Manitoba Runners Association, Pacesetters Sportswear, and Canadian Footwear Inc. The early morning start (8am) was timed just right as temperatures soared that afternoon. For those runners who wanted to best their finish times, the 10k prediction run was just what they were looking for while the 3k walk was just perfect for those of us who were up to the 10k challenge. Chad Begins a New Life: On Easter Sunday, April 11th, 2004 at 0700 hrs in the morning our family was given the sad news of Chad's passing. He served his life as an inspiration to each and everyone of us, and his story touched the hearts of thousands. We are comforted to know that, through our faith, he is with Jesus and that all his pain and suffering are no more. At an emotional committee meeting on April 14th, 2004 the Chad's Hope Committee members reaffirmed their commitment to continuing Chad's fight for a cure with the hopes that one day all children with the disease will be able to look forward to a full, happy, and healthy, life.
